Ownership cost varies with the yacht's age, value, construction, location, systems, and operating profile. Marina pricing, hurricane exposure, offshore plans, charter activity, and required crew experience can materially affect both insurance and annual expenses.

Insurance availability can influence where a yacht is kept and how it is operated. Before a purchase becomes unconditional, discuss navigation limits, named-storm plans, survey requirements, owner experience, deductibles, and any conditions attached to coverage.

Keep maintenance records, photographs, upgrade invoices, and safety documentation organized. Good records support underwriting, improve resale preparation, and make it easier to explain the yacht's care history to future surveyors and buyers.
